Places near SS with lots of outdoor time that work for working families?

Crossway Community is Montessori based preschool just a block from Wheaton Mall

It has had its issues but may be worth a try

How much are you looking for? It’s pretty standard for daycare classes to go outside 2x per day, for half hour or so. At centers you get all share the playground(s). There the acorn(?) school but I remember that being kinda expensive with preschool-hours rather than daycare.

Right, that's the usual, looking for places significantly above that... let's say 2 hours or more a day most days? Although more than that would be even better.

I don’t think that’s realistic - two hours per day per group (either class or age group) would mean only four groups a day, and most schools have more than that.

Crossway Montessori is all outside all the time but there are significant concerns with that place so I can’t recommend it.

What’s wrong with Crossway?

Doubt it is a good price, and unclear if full-day is an option (it would probably require after care) but sharing

Have you checked out Barrie School? Beautiful 40+ acres and they have before and after school care available

Both my kids went to TPCDC. They were outdoors a ton. Waitlist is a beast though.

I recall it was because they had kids napping outside under a gazebo with kerosene heaters. I have also heard their administration is a nightmare.

That's MCCA KFG, each class goes outside twice for about 40 minutes each time.

Second Karasik!

Not the OP but how are things at Karasik these days? I had heard they were having some staff turnover, although who isn’t these days. But when we were looking a few months ago I recall they were still on Covid hours as well.

We have been at Karasik for 3 years now and their hours have always been 7.30-5.30 since we started. They were 7-6 pre-Covid but they won’t be going back to that. Fantastic place.

Two kids at KFICCC. Not aware of recent staff turnover beyond a one-off here and there. There was a slew of departures a few years ago under the old director, but things have been much more stable. They’re doing more to have events for families and the communication is much stronger.
