recommendation for a great colorist?

I just turned 36 and have started getting more grey hair (just had child 3). My hair is medium to dark brown and pretty fine.

Can you recommend a really good colorist? I'm in NW DC (but there's really no reason I couldn't also go to MD or VA for someone great)

Demetrios at Bella Bethesda is great - he did a major color correction for me after a few really terrible highlights elsewhere. Not only was I pleased with how my cut and color turned out, I was in and out quickly too, which was a major plus.

Barbara at Ipsa in upper Georgetown. I've been going to her for 8 years.

Katie McClure at Aveda in Bethesda -- she's done a great job with my hair, similar in color to yours, but thicker texture. I'm really pleased with the color -- a warm brown without brassy tones, but with subtle variation in color that looks very natural. Also glad that she can do this without having to use highlights, which I think can look dated and over-done on brunettes. She also does great haircuts.

Connie at Easel in Georgetown, upper Wisconsin Ave area. I have been going there for a few years and referred several friends to her. Everyone so far has been happy with her.

Patrick at Bubbles on Bethesda Row is super awesome. He has a hand for color and just knows what he's doing. me and my friends love him!!

Second the rec for Barbara. I've been going to her for several years and LOVE her. I've gone to others (she only does color, and after I had DS I was hoping to consolidate to someone who does cut and color) and she's definitely the best (and the others I've done to have been strongly recommended, high-end places). Going back tomorrow and cannot wait.

PP here. I've always avoided going to Ipsa for a cut, because I was worried that if I didn't like the haircut, it'd be awkward still going back to Barbara. However, so that I can schedule one appointment, at my next appointment with her, I'm going to ask for a rec. So, I can't rec anyone right now, but maybe in a few days...

Kate at Toka in Georgetown I've been going to her for years. She does an awesome job, she always knows what's current, in terms of cut, but she is great at color too.
