Damn. My husband and I decided to give ourselves a REALLY expensive Christmas gift, a new white leather sofa. We got it early for an open house we are having this weekend.
I was labeling my toddler's diapers for day care this morning, and left the marker out. She found it. And covered (I mean COVERED) the sofa in scribbles. My mistake. I know it sounds silly, but I feel sick to my stomach. Had to go to work, and will google possible remedies for when I get home. Thought I would also check here. Any advice on removing the stains, or is it toast? |
How much thought did you & DH put into this purchase??? |
Toddler + white sofa = major disaster potential.
I know it's too late, but a white leather sofa...really? what were you thinking?!? That being said--you could try rubbing alcohol and/or Magic Eraser. You might also try calling a leather specialist (like at a shoe shop) for advice. |
More tips, less berating please. Please. ![]() |
I am sorry OP. And everyone else, really? She asked for help. . .not bitchy replies questioning her purchase. |
It's the Net, hon. |
Hmmm, call a leather place and look into having it dyed black or dark grey? That is the only way to move forward with the furniture, and it may be costly.
Before you send it, take pics to remind yourself to NEVER DO SOMETHING LIKE THAT AGAIN. |
You should at least take pics and post them on shitmykidsruined.com |
Oh common, how much brains does it take to figure out you don't get a white, expensive sofa when you have a toddler around. That's just stupid. Even if it weren't for the sharpie accident, did you plan to have your kid never sit on it? |
Hire an artist to do a fabulous abstract design?
Also, take lots of pictures so that later (many years later) you may all laugh about what must be a very gut-wrenching situation. |
"Oh common, how much brains does it take to figure out you don't get a white, expensive sofa when you have a toddler around. "
Obviously more than OP and DH. |
A large throw? |
OP - check this link....look like others have had success with mr clean eraser and rubbing alcohol, and other things....
http://www.thriftyfun.com/tf509647.tip.html I've never googled anything for a stranger, but with those other responses, thought someone could be a little supportive. Oh, and i have toddlers and white slipcovered couches (for years pre-kids) ![]() |
I agree with PP, at least someone could be nice to you!!!!!! Shame on those other posters for berating you. It was an accident. Now I am sure those other posters NEVER did anything that was an accident. I did a little googling for you and found, rubbing alcohol or nail polish remover. Also, they said spraying Coppertone SPF 30 continuous spray on the lines took it away. I hope these help you. Good luck! |
Agree on the magic eraser... it really is magic! Also agree on checking out shitmykidsruined.com to console yourself a little. |
