My little one was born in April so if I were to count her age by months she is seven months, but when I count by weeks it's exactly 32 weeks as of yesterday, which is eight months. FWIW she is crawling and now trying to stand/walk and teething like crazy so I was trying to find gift ideas for the holidays that would entertain her which led me to try to figure out her age. How do you / did you count your baby's age? Thanks so much from a first time mom |
32 weeks is not 8 months.
I am sorry. |
I stopped county weeks once both of my kids hit 16 weeks or so. I'd call her seven months. |
This. Not all months have 4 weeks/month. |
Well, that was mean and unnecessary, PP.
Typically I think people use "months" up to 24 months and then switch to years and 1/2 years. So if the kid is 26 months just say 2. If he is 29 months he is "almost 2 1/2." |
OP here: well 32 divided by 4 is 8 so that's how I got eight months which begged my question because I actually thought she is more along the lines of seven months but I don't know which is why I asked. |
OP, don't listen to the meanie PP's! This question has plagued me my whole life. I was born in January 1975. Some might say that means I am 35, turning 36 in January. However, I have been alive for 1864 weeks. Now, if you divide 1864 by 4, that makes me 466 months. Divide that by 12 and I am 38, almost 39 years old. This is difficult because I want to have another baby and I don't feel quite ready yet, but I know the odds of bad things happening go up at 40. Also, I want my husband to throw me a big 40th birthday party and he says we should wait 4 years but that seems unfair. Don't even get me started on the issue I had getting my driver's license. The DMV apparently also counts that way PP's do! |
Well I was hoping for some actual guidance but apparently this post isn't salacious or interesting enough to warrant more than snarkiness. glad I could provide some fun for those looking to be anonymously petty. |
Your baby is both 32 weeks AND 7 months. Her month anniversary aligns with the day of the month, as months are more than 4 weeks long (as years have 52 weeks in them). |
17:33 here. I was not trying to be mean. 18:18's answer clarifies what I meant. |
THERE ARE NOT FOUR WEEKS IN EACH MONTH. HOW IS POINTING THAT OUT BEING MEAN? SHEESH. |
Months have, on average, 4.33 weeks. Not 4. So 32 weeks does not equal 8 months. But this should be kind of obvious from the calendar, right? If my baby was born on Jan 1, he would be 4 weeks old on Jan 29 (28 days later)... but he wouldn't be "one month" until Feb 1. Make sense? |
I'm 17:32. How was my response mean? |
thank you.... so should I continue to consider her seven months? I am trying to plan for the holidays where I can give family members age appropriate ideas for gifts / clothes / shoes, blah, blah, blah... this is flumoxing me to an extent and I am really just trying to figure out what to tell extended family her age. |
Yes, she is 7 months old. You may now officially stop counting her age in weeks, especially since clothes and toys have recommendations/guidelines by month rather than week. |
