I am not a doctor, but do want to pass along some info from experience. Since you have not had your period since August, I would not take too much stock in the FSH reading of 130. For a true reading of your FSH level, the test needs to be performed on the third day of your period (third day after full bleeding starts). If you are not seeing a reproductive endocrinologist, then I would highly recommend making an appt with one. They can better assess your situation than an OB. Dr. Preston Sacks at Columbia Fertility is one of the few high FSH friendly REs in this area and is the only person I would recommend in your situation. Do not lose hope yet, but definitely get to a specialist ASAP.

Even Dr Sacks can't help someone with that high an FSH, if you want to have a baby you may want to consider donor egg.

Gee, so glad to see that you are a doctor and can dole out advise about how someone can have a baby via the internet. Should OP get tested by a RE (which she didn't seem to do the first time), get tested at a time where her hormone levels can be accurately and appropriately evaluated, and then determine what's next (which may or may not be DE) or take your assvice to go straight to DE? Hmmm...

I had infrequent periods and had an FSH of 47, subsequent testing was not any more hopeful, are you an RE? If so you would know that an FSH of 130 is hopeless

I know that FSH can only be appropriately tested on days 2-4 of a cycle. Since hers wasn't, there's no telling what the level really is - likely lower than 130, but maybe not.. I am not a RE, but I do have high FSH. I would certainly rather hear from a RE who regularly tests hormone levels that my chance is 0% based on accurate hormone level testing than from an OB or GYN who tests the levels after months of no AF when levels will be off the charts.

I don't think it should be that high at anytime no matter where she was in her cycle. Any reading over 50 at any day in the cycle is indicative of menopause. Maybe there is an underlying cause that can be corrected - definitely worth seeing an RE.

I agree with PP. Either it was a lab error, OP is not talking about her FSH, or there is nothing to be done...

OP was talking about her FSH. FSH can be above 50 and would not be a lab error. It would be indicative of a problem, which is best assessed by a RE. FSH can go off the charts when a person doesn't have their period. It's certainly not a good thing, but leave it to a professional to say that nothing can be done.

I agree anything above 50 is really high and probably not a lab error except if they were testing the wrong person's blood, but that is possible so the first thing you need to do is have a re test.

how do you know if you are going through early menopause?
I have irregular periods- (mising period for 3 months) not hot flashes, no drynees vagina, not tiredness, losing weight....

Had my follow up with gyn and my FSH is 67, she basically told me I'm menopausal and if I want to have a baby I will need donor egg. My DH and I aren't opposed to the idea just need some time to get used to the idea.

I'm sorry, OP. Best wishes to you.

This is weird, i had all the typical sympton that I am getting my period but still nothing. and 3 days ago i felt back pain and white fluid and today the egg strechy fluid (ovulating).

I had no my period since august and my fsh was 110 i was told that could be early menopause but i am in good shape no symptons of menopause i am in good mood i was size 6 now i am size 0, no diet, sleep very good (8 hours),

what is going on? could be stress and not early menopause?
