It seems that her mother at least knew about it . Some Korean TJ parents claimed to receive an email consisting of the forged acceptance letter from Harvard from Sara's mother.

Sara's father is working in Korea - Sara and Sara's mom is in the States - and judging by his reaction after the most recent coverage by Korean media, he didn't quite know what was going on and was on his way to the airport to visit Sara and check the story out.

Although it's only rational for the father to react (act) that way.
There's no way at this point the kid can get out of this. If the they admit the father was also involved, the whole family will be in shambles. It's rational for them to try to save him from the mess at least by claiming that he has no part in this - whether anyone believes him or not.
So just disclaim himself of any responsibility - it was just my foolish daughter that fooled even her own father. I had no idea but I apologize for raising her like this - and there's a chance that even though this is the end of the academic and professional career for the girl, the father might not lose EVERYTHING. Only rational.

Just saying that father may not have known what was really going on.

Some people are saying that he once worked for Collegeboard or some college consulting related position, and if that is true, his father must have known the story is a complete BS

I'm not sure how Harvard's and Stanford's admitted weekends work (maybe those with personal knowledge can chime in), but the ones that I have been to are rather informal. You can just show up and no one really verifies whether you belong there or not.

At least for Stanford, I'm very sure you have to be accepted To attend.

I think the newspapers in Korea already verified that she was not accepted.

The same korean newspapers that confirmed that she got into both places in the first place? Im not sure how reliable these sources are

In the first coverage they only quoted her words. She didn't provide a thing to prove, support or back up her story. It was her own word, and newspapers just bought it.

Now, they contacted the admission team at both universities, did phone interview and confirmed that her acceptance letters are forged.

Yes, your points are still valid. I literally hate when media covers story without verifying their primary source (and secondary.)

Adding up to previous comment of how korean newpapers simply bought Sara's words without checking it,

Pooja - whom I do not want to talk about in this irrelevant thread - provided all 14 copies of the acceptance letters to the Washington Post, and the WP contacted those 14 universities if they can verified. Some of them refused to do so, and some only did it off-the-record.

Korean newspapers should've done the same.

But can't you just show up on campus and not really sign in on the official list? At least in this case where deception and lies are part of the program, I don't think it would have been difficult for her to go to the school, but not be a part of the official events.

You have to register in order to live in dorm with host students which I know she did.

Well, it is almost impossible to verify the sources when someone says he/she was offered admissions to schools. I hate to refer to Pooja's article but WP acknowledges that all the acceptances are her "claims" and cannot be confirmed because of privacy policies of universities. I think adcoms of both schools, in this situation, could only officially comment because the acceptance letters were forged.

I know it's difficult double check with one's college admission.

I was just disappointed that korean media didn't do a shit until everyone else started to doubt her story, and just remarking that korean newspapers DID NOT verify her story in the first place.

Wait. I think two points are the same. but I'm too lazy to push my backspace key and not lazy enough to type in this unnecessary stuffs.

HL3 confirmed.

Also, if she was allegedly rejected from Stanford why would she travel all the way to California, sneak her way into the admitted students orientation, and then post pictures of herself at the orientation on social media(the pics may have been taken down now but idk, she had them up at some point)

Based on this, can we assume that she really was admitted to Stanford? Why would she jeopardize her acceptance with such public shenanigans?

Um, because she's not well.

How can I verify the confirmation of verified information from verified sources who confirmed the verified accepted admission from the confirmed and verified schools of confirmed great academia... I don't even know anymore. I can confirm I'm a verified Korean who was once accepted and admitted into an American university. I also didn't need other adults and Koreans to debate about it on the internet, no matter what I did, whether it was confirmed or verified.

HUE.
