The Damons did not understand the assignment. Such a lazy effort.

Eh, she's a normie and he's not a fashion guy. They chose to just go formal and look nice -- not everyone needs an attention grabbing looking:

Similar vibe with Seth Meyers and Alexi Ashe -- they just look good, they did not need to go all out with the theme (and potentially make fools of themselves):

Upon scrolling in to get a closer look... check out the lifts on Matt's formal shoes -- it's not quite Robert Downey Jr. but it's a solid Cruise-level lift. I did not realize Damon was sensitive about his height.

It's fine. But as someone who loves fashion, this is THE place to let 'er rip! So it's kind of disappointing. And yeah he's wearing lifts which is so NOT short king hot...

Pretty! I like her dress & Riley Keough’s dress

This one of the few I actually like

I love the dress and cape but think the hair is poorly executed and also obscures the fact that it's her, which is a PR miss.

HOWEVER

Kudos to the photographer for a really wonderfully composed shot, and to Christie for mastering the posing for this dress. All of which makes the hair more frustrating. It could have been perfection with a more sculpted birds nest situation and some accessories up there, plus better makeup so you really see her face. I wonder if something went wrong with the hair on the ride over and it could not be salvaged before she had to walk.

I also love the look, but you're speaking my language for the Met.

She's beautiful, but this color works on VERY few. I refer to it as "baby shit green"

I actually like this color on her (it's actually called "chartreuse") but feel her hair and makeup are weak and the design of the dress too simple -- the color is doing all the work of producing an impression and it's not enough. Compare Nicole Kidman in this iconic Dior at the Oscars years ago -- same color dress, similar coloring, but the deep red lips, embroidery, statement earrings, and contrasting shoes (plus the killer open back not shown here) elevate it to something special even though I know that color is not to everyone's taste:

Clearer photo:

I like this. I like the truly dramatic and the reveals for Met, it's the place to showcase true artistry. J. Lo looked good, but she also looked like she was headlining in Vegas in a near naked dress we've seen a variation of for 20 years. I like to see the showstoppers! Blake Lively is actually really good at this, was she there?

Agree with this. I was not wowed by JLo even though it's impressive she still looks like that, because I've seen her in a naked dress with the exact same styling a million times and I'm bored. The whole point of the Met Gala is to showcase fashion as art, and another sheer, painted on, metallic dress on JLo isn't it. She was also a co-chair this year and I expect more from people in that role. All the other co-chairs (Zendaya, Bad Bunny, Chris Hemsworth) pushed the limits at least a little bit with their looks, but JLo played it safe.

Blake Lively was not there this year.

I was wondering the same!

I know everyone here hates Mindy, but I'm impressed she is wearing her hair short, she usually wears long extensions to these things.

A lot of them either change or remove part of their outfit for the party. Also, there is no sitting.

My source is the movie Ocean’s Eight, but wasn’t a seated dinner during the Met Gala a plot point of their heist?
