Need a recommendation for a pediatric gastroenterologist

My 6 month old has terrible reflux, dairy/soy intolerance and general digestive issues. I'd like to take her to a specialist. Can anyone recommend a gastroenterologist in/near Silver Spring?
A few local moms recommended Dr. Pluta but they don't take my insurance (United Healthcare). Thanks! |

| Dr. Duffy in Shady Grove. Think her name is Lynn Duffy. Saw her a few years ago for our infant daughter's severe milk allergy. |

| We also have United Healthcare and have seen Dr. Ali Bader at both the Children's Hospital Outpatient Center in Rockville, and at Children's in D.C. (for medical procedures that aren't done at the Rockville location). |

| We liked Dr. Duffy a lot (that opinion is based on one visit - we only saw her once since my son ended up not having a problem). |

We took our guy to Dr. Rehktman at Georgetown and have loved her (and the results).

I have United Healthcare Open Choice PPO and they take it....do you have the HMO or something else? |

| Dr Duffy has a very good reputation and was recommended by our pediatrician. Our pediatrician told me that she is an effective specialist but runs the show. In other words, I would need to be assertive, but worthwhile to see Dr. Druffy. Regardless of her medical expertise, her communication style was less than acceptable, in our experience. I don't care about warm and fuzzy--expertise is all I demand--but she didn't listen to me or to my daughter, which meant that she missed important information and recommended diagnostic procedures that I knew were unnecessary and wouldn't gather the needed information. She was also unnecessarily cold to my daughter which compromised the exam. Again, I'm tough myself, but this went beyond personal style and impacted treatment. I won't go back t her. Just my experience. |

Dr. Yuliya Rekhtman is now in private practice and is superb! Her office is in Bethesda.

Benny Kerzner is the best in the area. Ali Bader is good. Did not have a positive experience with Duffy.

| I highly recommend Dr. John Snyder at Children's. He was so friendly and answered all of our questions. Even encouraged our use of email, which helped ensure I got all of my questions answered!!! |
