Didn't this happen last year too?

Last year, Stoneridge and Saints tied for regular season best record. (With Saints winning the regular season, head to head as I recall.). I think Visi Lost to Potomac last year so they had two losses in the ISL

In a truly boring game with no intention to play offense by either team, SSAS is trying to come back late. 7-4 with 4 minutes to go.

7-5 Visi

Saints have been on a little heater over the past month beating Potomac/BI/Milton. they have adjusted their game from the loss of their standout players due to injury. Even though Visi beat Stone Ridge recently their other games have been against weaker teams in the past few matchups. Visi will have to step it up to take down the Saints. Still think that Vis wins but it could be a shocker as well !

Interesting analysis. I will stick with Visi wining this one though. Saints are too young.

Visi 6
SSSAS 3

Visi coach gives KJ a little bit of her own medicine and controls game with multi-minute possessions. Then holds ball last 4 minutes.

This VISI coach is no where in the same league as KJ. They have no biz being on the sideline. The way he treats them and what he says is deplorable. No talent coaching that thinks yelling and screaming will win the game. He has talented players but KJ is the GOAT!

This is funny because kj yelled hard at her girls today. Is that deplorable too? She’s such a goat.

How so?

Stall ball when down by 3 might not be the best strategy...it a risky gamble.

Yell at the players instead next time.

If this score doesn’t scream the need for a shot clock nothing will.

Oh so true. It’s a transparent ploy to try and be egalitarian no matter the utter ignorance of accuracy. Can’t have the public school parents upset after all, even at the expense of reality. Yorktown would be unlikely to even place in the AA tier of the ISL and would rank at the bottom of the WCAC.

Sounds like it's the clueless private school parents who are upset that a public had the temerity to be mentioned in the same local poll. And through no fault of coach Kim, Yorktown would be the best team in the DMV if the strongest players in her school district didn't decamp to the privates.

And people who actually follow the sport look to USA Lacrosse, Inside lacrosse, or other sources for more accurate polling; no one cares about the WaPo polls except for the aged out mean girls on this site. .

None of those polls do DC-area lists so that doesn’t make any sense.

Neither does your point about how Yorktown would be a top DMV team if players were forced to live in some dystopian school system where kids are required to attend a designated school … Yikes. (For kicks, without naming names, please share what privates these elite impact Yorktown-districted players have ”defected.”)

You’ve offered no argument to contest the point that Yorktown shouldn’t be ranked. It sorta sounds like you actually agree.

Currently there are girls from the Yorktown district playing for Visi, SSSA, Potomac, SR, and I think SJC. Take those girls from the privates and those teams would be weakened while Yorktown is strengthened. Despite annually losing talent to the privates, Yorktown has been crushing the public opposition this year.
And it seems petty for people to be upset that the WaPo has them ranked...so what if a team having a good year gets a shout out?

What’s the point being made here? Most public schools in a sport like lacrosse would be better if none of their local players went to private schools. Really dumb.

Do they coaches really pick favorites? A few friends I know have daughters who used to play lacrosse but are no longer playing because of how horrible they felt HS lacrosse was run. I'm not trying to stir the pot. Just interested in hearing how things have been for your daughter whether JV or Varsity the past 3 years or so.

Visitation has a strange habit of hiring the parents of players (in 2 of their main sports, incredibly) so, yeah, theres just a wee bit of favoritism that goes on there.

The point is we should be forced to live in the world Stalin envisioned where our kids’ futures are foretold.

ISL desperately needs a shot clock, but that doesn’t automatically lead to higher scores. We might even see lower scores since teams will have to start settling for bad shots

Every coach has favorites in every sport at all levels.

Several of the Visi parents I have spoken with contrasted this season with prior seasons noting that the coaches are keeping it fun for the girls. Parent coaches won't always work out well, but in this case, it is my understanding that the coaches' daughters happen to be very strong players. My experience is that coaches often ride their kids more than other players.

Nice group of girls. Fans are pretty OK too.

The only real concern with parent coaches is probably continuity. Will the coaches stay and build a program? This is ultimately why privates do best when the teachers coach.

Visi has a wonderful new AD: former notre dame lax player, teacher and she is going to rock the job which she starts in the fall.

The parents on here that bad mouth the dad coaches have their own agenda.

For the parent trying to decide between visi and sr- lacrosse should not be your deciding factor.
