DD likes to pee standing up

Anonymous
My 4 yr old DD lately has started to pee standing. The funny part is that she's actually pretty good and rarely makes a mess. She has a very straight stream that comes out almost straight from her little vulva, so she has figured out how to aim it right in. DH and I have always been pretty open around here, and she has always watched him pee. But now she has decided that's the way she wants to do it too. We've both told her that girls need to sit, but with as long as it's working for her she has been unwilling to change. Anyone else with a DD who tries this?

did you check her for fused labia?

Her labia are not fused. In fact since she was a baby she has always had a fairly good gap between her outer labia.

the labia that fuses are the inner ones.
check them out!

Sorry both outer and inner labia are well apart on her.

Every girl I know wishes they could pee standing up. I have to watch my DD because occasionally she gets it into her head that she can do it and she can't. My DD would be jealous of yours.

I know this is a tangent, but I suspect my DD likes to pee standing up too, only it's in her diapers or on the floor. She'll say she has to go potty (she's 2.5 and we've just started potty training), but will never actually go while sitting. She'll either go on the floor a minute later or in a diaper if you get one on her quick enough. And I don't think it's a case of her just not sitting long enough. She can go through about 10 books on the potty and then stand up and pee next to it.

Maybe I should be teaching her to pee standing up?

HA HA. I guess if she really MUST do it standing, I'm at least glad she can make it go where she wants it.

My 5 yr old DD does this too. I think she started from watching her older brother. Like the OP, she can do it without making a mess so I have always let her. It's certainly handy on camping trips.
