Crib recs

Am searching for a crib that has modern lines and is 30" wide or less (I really want to ability to move it from room to room without removing doors!). I've looked at everything from the stokke sleepi ($750) to the ikea tassa ($139) and my head is spinning. The stokke sleepi has not only what I need, but stuff I'd like (no drop side, wheels, dark stain, nice to look at, converts to toddler bed). But then $750 is a lot of money to spend and I think I can get the Ikea one, get a good mattress and stain the thing to match the furniture I already have in the room and be done with it for a lot less. Then there are the options in between, like the cub by netto and the oeuf loop. I'd appreciate any recommendations, it just seems like there are too many choices. Thanks!

I have an Oeuf classic and am very pleased. It is heavy, very well made and easy to assemble, but I'm not familiar with the Oeuf model that you mentioned -- hopefully it's of the same quality. The daddytypes blog frequently has reviews and commentary on modern nursery furniture. www.daddytypes.com

If you decide to go with the Ikea option, I'd be cautious about staining it -- if the wood is already finished (as I assume it would be) you'd have to strip it first so that your stain would "take." Then there's the question of making certain that the finish you use is non-toxic . . . etc, etc. Too much to worry about, IMO.

We have a very small bedroom and go this in black instead of a full sized crib. Type it into google and you can see a photo. I spent a bit more money and got the upgraded mattress. I think I spent about 300 on the whole package. I think $750 is a buttload to spend on a crib.
