BINGO!!!! These are my thoughts exactly! Usman mentioned during his sentencing statement that his sister who is attending Oakton HS has been bullied for his actions. I mean not that I condone bullying but these are consequences of his reckless actions! At least she is alive, the other 2 aren't! The surviving victim also attends Oakton so I can see it creating an uncomfortable situation for both. Things that Usman could have avoided!!!

Neither of these people are involved. They should be able to attend without bullying.

DP, yeah that’s the point, but they can’t because of his selfish and reckless actions.

No. Bullying is bullying. No one should be bullying her. She’s not her brother.

DP.

First off, you completely misconstrued the point of the post that you're replying to: the two victims whose lives were needlessly stolen from them should be able to attend school without bullying, but it's impossible now because of his selfish and reckless actions.

Secondly, it's unclear whether his sister is being bullied based on the same standard of "bullying" that's been thrown around by Shahid supporters in this forum...which would effectively mean that the amount of bullying she's seeing is negligible.

Thirdly, it's disgusting and inappropriate how brazenly Shahid's supporters have been trying to hijack the sympathy owed to the victims of his crime ever since the incident.

I’m not his supporter.

No one should be bullying the sister. We should all be able to agree to that, right?

Who even knows if it's true or not. He could have just said it to gain sympathy from the jurors... What other reason is there for even bringing that up?

Those parents received a life sentence.. he could have used that time to apologize for killing their children rather than claiming bullying! 🙄

Ok. But you agree she shouldn’t be bullied, right?

Correct. But do you agree that those two girls shouldn’t have died? I’d rather have my brother be alive and me being bullied than not be bullied but my sister is dead.

Sure. I agree.. but I'm not 100% convinced that the claim he made was true! I doubt she's being bullied.. I feel he made the claim to gain pity.

On another note, I DO feel he may end up bullied in jail/prison for being the rich kid who killed 2 girls with his brand new BMW from mommy and daddy!!

Being bullied is the least of his worries in prison.

She looks physically ok, as in she walked without crutches or a wheelchair at court. Who knows what physical and mental pains she deals with daily. She did mention that she has PTSD and she's getting counseling.

I hope she finds strength to move on and make the most of basically a miracle of life.

My comment was deleted but I think what people are trying to say is that the school administrators and the students should be careful to not engage in behavior against the perp’s sister because she is a minor who is not at fault. Nobody knows whether she is being bullied, what the standard of bullying is etc. Again nobody is sorry for Shahid.

WTF why is she getting bullied? She must be going through trauma herself with everything going around her. Poor kid.

Why are you putting her on trial? Like everyone else, she would rather have no one dead, no one on trial, not be part of this nightmare.

I assume the argument goes something like if Usman had been found not guilty, then no one would be able to bully his sister. That's not how kids work, but adults are often confused about the behavior of children.

What happens to Usman now? Does he wait in jail until the judge hands-down the final sentence or does he get to go home?
Anonymous
4 years. What an absolute tragedy for the girls' families. I can't imagine what they must be going through.

I pray Shahid spends the rest of his life proving that he's reformed and makes something good of himself.

I hope that she gets some help in the form of financial award from the civil case.

Let’s not be fooled that the design of the intersection caused this tragedy. Usman Shahid is solely responsible for the deaths of two girls, the injuries of a third, and the trauma inflicted on the witnesses and families.

None of this would have prevented the deaths caused by Shahid going 81. Do you think he would have slowed down because there was a sign or camera? Of course not, he was lawless as he didn’t even have a license and then drove 81!

Did you respond to the wrong person? You’re aggressively responding to someone that said Shahid was the issue.
