new to the area (MoCo) - need a dentist, but I'm terrified!

Anonymous
Hi Ladies,
I'm in desperate need of a dentist. My tooth is killing me, but I'm new to MoCo and have nowhere to go. Any recommendations? Important bit of info - I am terrified of the dentist (I literally cry at the sight of a drill), so if anyone could recommend a dentist that will knock me out or drug me into oblivion, I think that would be best. TIA! (Oh Bethesda/Chevy Chase area would be very convenient)

My dentist is in Friendship Heights, Maryland (about two blocks west of Wisconsin Avenue).

Dr. Vincent Greco
301-907-6700

I'm a complete wuss when it comes to dental stuff, although I've never been knocked out before a procedure. I would have a discussion with the dentist before he or she does anything. I like Dr. Greco because he's conservative and doesn't recommend unnecessary stuff.

Good luck, OP, hope you are pain free soon.

I'm a lot wimpy and thought I wanted to be knocked out or drugged up, too. I put off finding a dentist after a bad experience with my old dentist for six years. But my new dentist put me completely at ease and I trusted her. And low and behold, no pain! I even needed to go to an endodntist she recommened to me for a root canal and it was actually not painful. Even the novacaine shots at the endo (and there were LOTS of shots) didn't hurt. I don't know how he did it but honestly, nothing hurt. Easy to get to from Bethesda...just over the DC line off of River Rd

I LOVE her! She is very warm and bubbly. I had my first cavity earlier this year and she was amazingly calm and patient - explained everything and was slow and gentle. I didn't feel a thing. She even gave me the name of an endodontist, in case I needed a root canal. She called and let him know I might be calling and checked to make sure he took my insurance and sent me home with copies of the x-rays so I wouldn't have to get more taken at his office. I ended up not needing the root canal, which was great, but it was so nice that she went the extra mile for me!
