Dr. Alalouf has had his license suspended effective May 2. This is not a rumor, you can get a copy of the Order by the Maryland State Board of Dental Examiners (issued April 2) by calling 1-877-463-3464. The order is 47 pages long and details 16 cases where he was determined to have told parents their kids had multiple cavities, in many cases having them undergo general anesthesia at Shady Grove hospital, when in fact they did not need treatment at all. I am so upset by this, we have gone there for years and love the practice. But this is so unconscionable. Dr. Alalouf is not allowed to work until August, but then he can come back. What upsets me most is that they (neither the dental board nor Kids Teeth) are not telling patients and I think parents have a right to know this so they can make an informed decision about using him as a dentist. ![]() |
We are not patients, but I would like to know how you obtained this info? It would be helpful to keep track of all medical professionals we visit. |
Unfortuanalty this type of thing is not uncommon in the dental field. I highly recommend having the dentist show you the cavity on an x ray. and/or get a second opinion. It is sad and sicking that someone would take advantage of parents and children. |
My daughter has gone to Kids Teeth, but has always seen Dr. Madani. He hasn't found any cavities in her teeth (so far). Do you know if he was found to have acted the same way or just Dr. Alalouf? |
I found out about this because I heard a rumor and couldn't believe it was true, so I called the Maryland Dental Board and asked. They faxed me the order. I specifically asked if there were any charges against Dr. Mondani, and was told no. |
Thank your for shaing this information. Both of my children go to Dr. Alalouf and were just there in early March. Neither were told they have cavities, but they're only 3 and 4 years old. I am shocked by this, as we love Dr. Alalouf and his practice! I will definitely be calling the Dental Examiners office to retrieve the order. If this is in fact true, I will be taking my children elsewhere or maybe just switching to Dr. Mondani. |
That nut would subject a child to an anesthetic for a buck? The practice must have known. Suggestion: boycott the whole practice. |
For those interested in getting the order, I called the Board of Dental Examiners this morning and was told that they've received a number of calls about Dr. Alalouf. The clerk said that he has been in the disciplinary process, but they're not allowed to provide any details. Any requests for a copy of the suspension order must be made in writing to the attention of the Disciplinary Unit. The address is on the website http://www.dhmh.state.md.us/dental. Doesn't seem like a very patient-friendly process to me. |
Will they every officially find him guilty or not guility? I just called and asked them about it and they were professional and just stated the obvious and said he would be back in August. If anyone moves to a new dentist please let us know. Thank you. |
The dental board said that Dr Alalouf was suspended from 5/2 to 8/30 and then on 3 years' probation afterwards. I wonder how the practice will juggle appointments in that period. My kid isn't due for a visit until fall. |
My children have gone to Dr Alalouf for the past 4 years and we were also told we needed a major procedure. After getting a second opinion found we found it was not necessary. We switched practices on our own and never reported it. After seeing the many complaints on the report I am not surprised. I am sure there are many others out there who did not complain. Others should step forward now. I know I plan to send a complaint in. We also had cavities filled when my children were very young and I always felt something was not right. He gave no pain medicine and she said she felt nothing? |
Oh my goodness. I am so glad I was forwaded this today by another mom. I have appointments today for both of my children. Can anyone recommed their ped. dentitst? |
Dr. Morganstein in White Flint Mall is Great; I mean absolutely great and I know a lot of people who go there for pediatric dentistry. Easy recommendation. We also went to Dr. Alalouf in the past and Dr. Morganstein is much better with the kids and spends more time explaining what's happening to them. |
Try Dr. Amy Light down in Potomac Village (River Rd. & Falls Rd.). Her practice is wonderful. See www.amylight.com |
I suggest taking the list of "Top Pediatric Dentists" from the Washingtonian magazine website and starting from there.....to find a new one.... |
