Parents showing up to Watkins Mill and MVM to protect their children

Anonymous
A poster on NextDoor states that there have been incidents at Watkins Mill high and Montgomery Village middle where parents have been on campus threatening or fighting with the bullies of their children.

Apparently the Watkins mill incident turned into a brawl and yes there's video out there.

I know of parents who have left WM because of the violence in the school and their children were victims and the school had done nothing to get rid of the kids who are assaulting others.

The school is completely out of control and the fact the BOE does nothing to bring it back inline should be a wake up call to everyone that the same thing can happen at all of our schools.

When parents have no choice but to physically head into a school to protect their children there is a big problem.

I couldn’t find the post on NextDoor.

Are you sure the board is aware?
What have you done to engage the board?
You’d be shocked how much doesn’t actually make it to the desks of board members and even superintendents…..

Is that what happened? The MoCo show reported trespassers but did not mention that are parents.

Is there anything more substantial than nextdoor? It's worse than dcum!

I would be more disappointed to learn that the board of Education is unaware of the violence problem at our school. It is their job to oversee the school system. If they aren't conducting Anonymous surveys and making surprise visits, if they don't have an anonymous reporting system, if they have no methods to know what is going on in the schools how can they be trusted to make decisions in the best interest of the community?
Not knowing what is happening is the first point of failure in a rotting system.

Shocking that not one but TWO adults can saunter in to Watkins mill and wander around long enough to find a student ?

I can't walk into my students school at any time. If there isn't a person in the Security office there are people standing directly infront of it.

What a shame

There's no credible source for the principal's letter. As far as I can tell it doesn't exist.

From what I know about security at MV and Watkins Mill, security or someone in the main office has to let you in the building.

Here is the email from MV principal about the incident:

Good morning, Montgomery Village families,

I’m writing to provide an update on an incident that occurred just after dismissal yesterday, Friday, May 3rd.

At approximately 3:08 PM our security reported that the adult male relative of one of our students came onto our campus after receiving a text regarding a possible altercation. MVMS administration immediately contacted MCPS to report a possible trespasser on campus. At 3:10 PM, this adult entered the main office, followed by our security team and the Deans of Students where the student was being held. After reuniting with their relative, both the adult and the student were escorted out of the building and off campus. During which, the adult made several general threats.

As a result of this disturbance, the threats, and the impact on the students who were still on campus, the MVMS administration spent the remainder of Friday afternoon working closely with MCPD and the Office of Safety and Security to conduct an investigation and take precautions to ensure that this person will not be allowed to trespass on our campus in the future, per MCPS COC-RA Trespassing or Willful Disturbance on MCPS Property.

Please know that we take the safety of our students very seriously and will continue to work closely with our partners in MCPD and Safety and Security to ensure that our students are always safe. If you have any additional questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to contact me directly.

Thank you and enjoy the rest of your weekend.

What would you consider a credible source for this letter? I am not criticizing by the way, you’re right.
There is a letter on Nextdoor and now there’s one comment above mine.

NP. Oddly enough, I find it far more credible when someone copy-and-pastes a letter from a principal onto DCUM, than when someone on DCUM cites a post on NextDoor.
