Packing for Italy

Would you ever take a (high end) sweatshirt? (Thought it would be easy to throw in the backpack, and the school name might be a conversation starter—not elite).

And yoga pants? (They are comfy and never need Ironing).

Are they both hard nos? I am older. Thanks

A high end sweatshirt with a school name as a conversation starter? No.

Not sure, many Italians are for sure interested in hearing more about Arizona State.

Doesn't exactly answer your question, and I've been to Italy only once, for about a week and a half, so I can't claim great experience or knowledge, but I was struck by how well dressed everyone seemed to be, everywhere, all the time, like even a notch above the general "Europeans dress better than Americans" baseline.

If you think I am going to spend 8 hours tramping around ruins /museums, without sneakers, you are crazy.

This my vacation, not a fashion shoot.

Only Americans cosplay White Lotus in Italy. Everyone else dresses comfy for the weather and activities.

Wear whatever makes you comfortable! I lived in Italy for several years and I honestly think a lot of their fashion is weird. You’re on vacation. Just make sure you’re able to cover up in a church.

+1 I spent hours/days trying to find sneaker alternatives, went to Italy and there were sneakers everywhere.

I would not wear yoga pants or shorts, but otherwise anything is fine.

I assure you, with all of my heart (and experience) that europeans wear leggings and sneakers. Including new balance and nikes! And bright colors! The only thing that is a bit different is that they wear and keep on more layers. It takes a bit more for them to start shedding their layers (including that beloved puffy vest--no linen in sight). That's all. Everything else is the. same.
