Embarrassed myself on camera zoom

Anonymous
How do I recover? I thought my camera was off and well it wasn’t. Ughh…I hate the stupid camera rule

I need more details. Was this a Toobin situation?

Hard to know without more details. But go get a camera cover asap.

I'm sorry, that sucks.

Everybody poops read the book.

Sorry, this is everyone’s worst nightmare. Answer depends on how bad it was.

Many of us have been there.

I have no idea what this lady was doing, but she was flossing her teeth into the camera on a zoom PTA meeting! Like using the camera as her mirror and it must’ve been a brain fart type moment because all of a sudden she realizes everyone can see what she’s doing and she gasps and hangs up.

I can see how that feels embarrassing or is funny but at the end of the day that's not really very embarrassing.

For 20 years I did conference calls on the phone, then Covid hit and now I'm supposed to turn on a camera, nope.

Nose pick?

Lesson learned and good idea on camera cover. Keep it off
I have seen feet on the desk, kids in background,if it was a quick moment and then you realized, it’s possible not all saw you in the moment as many multitask on video calls
If no one said anything, just pray and move on and turn that camera off always at home

Toenail pick?

When COVID first hit and we all had to call in to video conferences from our own desks (masks were still scarce but our job is not conducive to remote work), I was called in to a large meeting, like 100+ people. Most had their cameras off. But the guy in the cubicle around the corner from me had left his on, and was sitting very close to camera picking his nose. Like, full on digging around, up to his knuckle buried inside the nostril, close enough that his face fillled the entire window - and since he was one of the few with a camera on, it was highlighted for everyone. I ran around the hallway to tell him to shut his camera off. Three other people were right there with me.

How to recover? Eh, just ignore it and move on. Those who remember will hopefully be gracious enough to not mention it. Anything you do to address it will only make it live on longer.

We actually never changed, we only turn on cameras for very small group meetings where it’s kind of like informal just hanging out with like five people or less

I wore a headphone and awesome times walk into the bathroom forgetting that I have it on and then the meeting starts and I’m basically in the bathroom without my phone praying to God I’m on mute
