FCV- National Playoffs?

Anonymous
Has anyone received a clear answer whether their FCV GA team is going to travel to CA for the national playoffs in June. FCV has been up in the air regarding whether my DD ‘s team has enough players to field a team- we have had meetings with the families- we were told to expect an answer by May 1….yet here we are with no answer. I’m wondering if some teams have heard while others haven’t. We’ve written the powers that be at FCV …but they keep putting off giving us a clear answer. They Keep promising one soon!

A late answer usually means no unless you want to show up with a lot of players at the next lower age group

We are not going. A bunch of other families have made the same decision as well.

I heard families not going are going to be fined.

The GA playoffs look like they're going on at the same time as ECNL. VDA has already rostered BP's favorites, they're probably going to roster them to bolster VDA's playoff push, no?

Good luck with that, FCV messed this one up, not the families. You can't expect families to commit to something when leadership, and coaching couldn't commit to the players.

that's not how it works...FCV will be fined by GA if their teams qualify and don't attend. The teams can't fine the families - you can't force a family to spend money to travel across the country and incur travel costs so the club avoids a fine.

They can try holding player cards based on unpaid club fees, but good luck with that.

got to love the "i heard" crowd - where did you hear it? I'd bet my last dollar that you heard it through parent gossip hanging out on the sidelines and now you think that's truth

No follow up from FCV so I can only assume that we’re not going to CA.

I think too many people have already bailed. Some on the season entirely. Some just on CA. Lots don’t get to practice ever but still want to come to our last couple of home games?

Coaches seem to be trying but FCV admin has been a mess since January and it’s too late to save it now. My preference at this point is for FCV to formally announce we are not going to CA. Then people won’t have to gossip about it anymore. And people that are quitting should just quit today and be done. Then no one has to spend any time or energy wondering if they will show up or not and the club can make other plans with those who actually want to finish out the season.

Agreed. Zero point to go if you can't field the actual teams.

Why would those quitting FCV quit today? They paid for a full season and should be there for the full season. Plus most quitting are going to VRSC which doesn't have GA right now, so they'd quit the FCV season to just go practice for a month and a half at VRSC? makes no sense.

Only the $&@! that were BP favorites are going out west this June.

I'm not suggesting that people quit and be done if they are playing for another club next year. That is almost everyone. I am suggesting that you quit and be done if you all already ditching your team this year in favor of high school, VDA, or anything else. Some kids are still trying to get something out of the rest of this season. I don't fault people for leaving and making the best decision for you, but if you are 20% in and 80% out then it ruins it for everyone. Just leave. FCV has spent the last month trying to convince a small number of kids to go to CA. Why?
