My job is getting cut and replaced with a lower-wage position. My employer has asked me to spend the time I have left here creating a leave document that is basically a walkthrough of how to do my job, so nothing falls through the cracks when I leave.
I've happily created these leave documents for jobs that I have chosen to leave in the past. But it's hard not to feel bitter about my position being demoted and part of me wants to watch them sink or swim. Besides, they already have a leave document I created for my maternity leave 5 years ago that more-or-less covers the basics. Is this a normal ask for employers to make of employees they're pushing out? |
OP, it's all about them. I'd just update the date on your maternity doc. |

+1. Sorry, OP. Best of luck with your job search. |
I was asked to do this and just…never did. The world kept turning and the lower level person who was promoted to my spot figured it out. Yes, I was bitter. |
Just update your maternity leave memo and be pleasant until you leave. You will want good references. I’m very sorry this happened to you. |
Just write a one paragraph basic description |
This. Update the date, make a few surface changes throughout. Done. |
Yes. And don't mention you had done it before. They probably forgot. |
