bday presents for 18yo girl

Want to surprise my DD next week on her bday with some nice presents. What are super cute and fashionable stores to shop at locally to buy clothes and shoes for daughter who will be leaving for college in the fall?

Does she like you shopping for her? I dont know any 18 y/o girl that likes what her parents buy, so I'd just suggest ca$h

My DDs tell me all day long every day what they'd like/want. Does she not?

Having once been an 18 year old young woman, and now having a 17 year old daughter, my suggestion is to surprise her with a shopping and lunch date with you, so she can choose her clothes and shoes.

+1 I've been doing this with my DD for several years now. Her birthday is in December, so she's already getting lots of Christmas presents to open later in the month.

This is the answer.

Kendal Scott has cute jewelry and it's 50% off on your birth month so bring her ID.

Is she going north or south for college?

Why not get her a new lawnmower?

I am really close to my DD and we spend tons of time together. She would find it torture to shop with me. She’d probably find it equally torturous to shop in a store. She’d rather have money to pay for the clothes she buys online.

I’m sort of jealous that your daughter would want you to shop for or with her.

You could just get some gift cards to the ones you know she likes. Or just do cash.

OP here. DD is going to college just a couple of hours away. She HATES to shop, and does not even like to shop online that much. She went to a school requiring a uniform and was a year-round athlete so mostly wore athletic clothes. I think at the college she has chosen students do not walk around in athletic clothes all the time like she is used to doing. She has only a couple of pairs of jeans and tops for going out right now, and she has lots of cocktail type dresses she wore to all the dances, etc. However, she really needs a wardrobe of fashionable casual clothes to wear every. Her bday surprise was going to get her started. I wanted to know what are good stores to purchase nice but casual clothing for a 18y. Where can I buy this locally so it will be say to exchange if she needs different sizes or wants a different color? Anthropology? J Crew?
