Mike Collins / Ole Miss

No, not shocked. The more outrageous things they say, the more societal transgressions they commit....the more attention the media gives them. This translates into donations.

Really messed up incentives.

And the GOP is still trying to make “antifa” into a thing somehow.

Wait, what? You mean more Ole Miss alums will be inclined to donate?

When you see the video all the white old Miss students are laughing it up including the women in the back.

Though nothing will happen. This is old Miss, Mike Collins and the anti protester crowd.

Jeff deleted my previous comment, I can’t figure out what I said wrong. Anyway, this was my biggest takeaway that it was just one black woman and the anti protestor crowd was all white around 150 or so, they heckled and made racist taunts shamelessly. All of them, I didn’t see one somber face.

Anyone else shocked that this happened? In 2024?

Nope. It took me several years to absorb it, but everything that's happened since Trump came down that elevator (and even before) is a backlash against the loss of white hegemony. It's been bubbling under the surface of society, but after the John Birchers/Goldwater were defeated in '64 it went sort of underground. Google Southern Strategy if you want the history, especially the famous Lee Atwater quote.

Trump appeals to outright white supremacy and also the discomfort a lot of white people experience when confronted with the fact that the Voting Rights Act and Civil Rights Act and the election of Barack Obama didn't immediately erase the longstanding negative effects of racism. Trump represents a time when authority was in the hands of the people it "belongs" to. That's all the last about 9 years has been about. And now that the former President can be a racist and be President, there is nothing stopping anyone else.

I just reported Mike Collins for "joking" about assasinations. Reported under glorifying violence. What is wrong with this man?
