Summer dive

Any thoughts on NVSL summer dive? Looks interesting but know nothing about it
I have a 9 yo son who likes to hang out on the diving boards

Try it. They will teach him what he needs to know. Does your pool have a team?

It's fun and much lower key than swim. The biggest hurdle I'm seen beginners face is the first back dive (leaning backwards and falling back to land hands first in the water). Some kids never get it and at least two that I know of quit after 1 season because of it.

It has been great for my kid. As PP said, much lower key than swim. Our coaches have been great - they're usually college students. And a bonus at our pool is that the dive team practices after the swim team, so no really early mornings.

We love dive. They start slow and will work with your kid. At 9, it’s still early enough that you can use a jump for an optional…dive is better for kids to start late than swim.

It's a great experience. Less wacko parents and a more fun vibe than swim team at our pool.

A PP again, and I agree. Mine joined at 10, has really enjoyed it and decided to stick with it, and is now on his high school team.
