No bathtub—would you buy?

Am I crazy to renovate 2 tiny upstairs bathrooms in 1950’s colonial and remove the only tub in house? We don’t use it and we desperately could use some storage space.
Everyone says—resale, resale. But we’re in a highly sought after neighborhood with tear downs on both sides of my house.
Want to stay another 10 years.

For a stay of 10 years, do it. Only parents of young children need tubs.

Would be a dealbreaker for me, because I love to soak in the tub, but I think most other people do not care.

I've been in my home for 10 years and mostly only use the bathtub to water plants lol. I think I've had an actual bath maybe twice. So if you dont use it, I think youre fine to reno to suit your family.

If you’re staying 10 years do what you want. I wouldn’t buy a home without a tub because my entire family likes to take baths, but that is just me. We actually didn’t put an offer on a house (pre pandemic) because it only had showers.

A friend of mine lives in a home (overseas) with only one shower but she has this moveable tub she uses for her toddler.

Same but I've been there 20 years.

Just keep one tub.

For 10 years, I'd have your house how you want it. Someone will buy it when you're ready.

You need at least one tub. I would not remove it.

We bought a house (that others turned down) without a standard bath tub. It had a jacuzzi. We looked into adding a standard tub but the impediment was that tubs are more complicated plumbing than a shower because of the additional overflow drainage need and ultimately we couldn't make the space work. Any way you can preserve the overflow drain and spacing such that the next owner can more easily renovate?

I think most people would like more bathroom than an extra closet. Like removing a tub for a shower is okay, but removing a tub to make it a closet? Not so much.

We like baths. All 3 of my kids take a bath every night. They just don't get clean enough in a shower (because they can't scrub well I guess). My oldest is 7.

Keep the bathtub

I would NEVER buy a house without a tub. Ever. Dealbreaker over almost anything else.

I've quizzed my neighbors about this, and no one thinks that not having a tub will hurt my resell chances. My house is a colonial with a modest addition, so 2 bathrooms upstairs (one currently has a tub, but I want to get rid of it), half bath on the main floor, and another full in the basement (shower stall).
