Graduation Gifts

I'm older (57) and from the south so it was customary to give HS graduates an engraved Jeffesron Cup as a gift.

Is this still done?

I’m 45 and I’ve never even heard of a Jefferson Cup

+1

I'm 53 and from Dallas -- I've never heard of one either.

I'm the PP at 18:22. Just looked up what this is. No new grad wants that. It will just collect dust.

The only circumstance under which this makes sense is if the new grad wrote their Senior thesis on Monticello or something. Even then, something else, like cash for instance, would be better.

I thought that was a UVA tradition.

My supervisor gave me an engraved one when I graduated from UVA in the mid 1990s. He was 30+ years older than me then.

No grad or adult wants this. I have several from law related events…worthless and meaningless.

We got some of these for our wedding. We’ve never used them.

These are classic. I have two from the mid 90s. One is on my dresser and holds change, collar stays, cuff links, tie bars and a watch. The other is packed away and will likely be given to my son when he graduates college.
