I don't know if these are the best, but here are my two recipes:
#1 -tequilla -triple sec -squeezed limes #2 -tequilla -Newman's Limeaid -squeezed limes For margaritas, I believe simple is best. Also, ALWAYS on the rocks and i prefer a salted glass. |
I agree the simpler the better and always use fresh lime juice not the kind that comes in a plastic bottle |
I love margaritas and have tried lots of recipes, and think the “best” is personal preference - eg, I like mine heavier on the line but some people prefer theirs sweeter.
To my taste, a good marg is always a mix of fresh lime juice, tequila, orange liquor, and agave syrup. A good start is 1:1:1 lime juice, tequila, orange liquor, plus 1/2 ounce agave - mix together and serve on ice with a salted rim and lime wedge. Taste and adjust based on your prefs - you can drop the agave to 1/4 ounce if too sweet, increase the tequila and/or lime juice to 2 ounce if you want it more boozy or limey. I always use silver tequila and cointreau for the orange liquor (sometimes I sub in fresh OJ for the orange liquor to lighten it up). |
My favorite: 1 oz each fresh squeezed lime juice, Cointreau and 2 oz blanco tequila. Shake over ice, serve on the rocks with salt. You can add a barspoon of agave nectar or simple syrup if you like it sweeter. |
1c water
1/4c sugar (can go less or more) 1 c lime juice (freshly squeezed!) 3/4 c tequila (I prefer silver or blanco... you do you) 1/2 c orange liqueur (Cointreau or triple sec) Ahead of time, boil water and sugar to dissolve sugar. Chill w tequila, orange liqueur and lime juice. Serve on the rocks. Or leave in the freezer and enjoy as a slushy frozen drink. |
