Sidwell boys' lacrosse team "staffing update"?

Anonymous
I am trying to understand what may have happened with the Sidwell boys' lacrosse coaching staff. Yesterday, with about two weeks left in the season, we learned that the head coach was stepping away for the rest of the season for personal reasons. Later, the assistant coach named to helm the ship in his absence, may have quit, I understand. It is concerning for many reasons (we hope the coach is okay). I am wondering if anyone has insights? Thank you.

An anonymous board is not the place to speculate about individual people. Please direct your questions to the school admin or other parents of kids on the team.

Please let school staff keep their personal lives personal.

I think PP's question is not intrusive as to personal lives -- but could be read as asking about the institutional angle. Or, soliciting information about staffing/future plans for the program.

Notwithstanding, the kneejerk judgments of DCUM prevail before even asking questions.

Seriously. Does Judgey McJudge-a-Lot lurk around on Saturday mornings looking to jump in?

Parents of players on the team that I know are curious about not so much what happened in the person's life but about what may have occurred, if anything, with players. I understand that the email from the athletic director was rather muddy.

Seriously. Do any Sidwell parents actually talk to each other? Is there no other lax parent who would be a better source for this information than DCUM?

The info provided by the school was unclear according to the post above, so it doesn't seem like parents go to know

Why do you presume that the parents do not talk to each other? Just because someone asked here? These are not mutually exclusive.

Sidwell lacrosse is not exactly a marquee job and turnover happens with coaching teams. Believe it or not, there aren’t a ton of people knocking at the door to coach a team that is typically in the bottom half of the MAC.

I heard the coach came into a lot of money and decided to open a lax school in Florida and offered the asst a job there that pays more than Sidwell.

Sounds like a dream come true! And just the 'personal reasons' anyone would step away for. Wonderful! Thank you.

This is sad for all involved.

Except the coaches, apparently

It likely wasn't a mutual resignation, as it happened so suddenly and even his name was removed from the website in matter of a day or two.
