FCPS language classes

Anonymous
I originally thought that FCPS students could transfer out of their base school to another FCPS school for a particular language course, but I was just looking at the FCPS website and it seems like that is only available for immersion classes.

That can’t be right, can it? I thought it was One Fairfax - how can they offer certain languages at some schools but not others?

In high school, they generally can. It is subject to space considerations.

Another alternative is taking the language as an academy class. So you're enrolled and take the rest of your classes at your base school, but travel to the academy for language (typically that involves missing some/all of one additional period so if it can't be worked out with study hall and/or lunch some students lose an elective).

Thanks. Only high school or middle school too ( if you know)?

DP but only in HS. If your MS doesn’t offer the language, the student waits until HS to start.

It depends on space- I though there was some place on the FCPS website that lists if a HS is open or closed to transfers.

I know Woodson is closed to transfers right now and they offer ASL as a world language
