Ortho-K or Misight Contact Lenses for Myopia

Anonymous
DS (almost 11) is very nearsighted and we have been successful slowing down his myopia the last two years by using atropine drops. There has actually been slight improvement in his prescription. Our dr is now recommending ortho-k (at night) or misight lenses (during the day) as options. Does anyone have experience? Since they are both pretty costly, I am thinking of trying regular contacts and sticking with atropine for a bit to see how things go. Anyone have experience?

My son uses Ortho-K and have great success. Before Ortho K, he was -2.75D. After one or two days of wearing the OrthoK lens, his vision was 20/15. He did took him a week or two to get used to putting and taking out the hard lenses.

This is helpful; thanks! Were the contacts hard to get used to sleeping in at night?

It definitely took 1-2 days to get used to but so far so good! As soon as he puts the contacts in, he goes straight to bed. I put a sleep mask over his eye to prevent him from rubbing his eyes.

You don’t really feel them after you close your eyes. DD has been using them since she turned 11, she is 20 now. I used them for a few years too.

This is amazing. Popular in Asia and Europe. Not sure why it isn’t more popular here in the US.
