How much does your middle school aged child spend on lunch / breakfast per week if they purchase at school?

Mine is averaging between $20 - $25. Says the lunch portions are too small.

Yes mine has been getting double entrees almost every time which really increases cost.

I hadn't realized this, until DD told me that they get like 4 cheese sticks for lunch. Which is definitely not a good sized portion. DD takes lunch from home, so when she buys, it's to supplement, and for friends that don't have the money for lunch.

OP here. Just realized I added up this week's meals (4 days) to get the 20-25 number. So it's more like $25-$30 at least.

Easily 2 lunches, pretzels, cookies. Says he’s hungry.

Mine often gets two entrees also. They serve the same portion size to kindergarteners as they do to 14 year old boys.

So have them pack their own lunch.

My son would occasionally buy extra items but I would load $50 on his account and it would take him a few months to get through it.

Mr friend’s son was spending $50/week so she made him supplement with things from home.

Sometimes my kid gets two pizzas and not much else and gets charged for two full lunches. The portions are too small for middle schoolers that are nearing 6 feet. Is there an a la carte option?

My kid likes a hot lunch. We don’t have the variety that the school lunches provide.
