Good placement for boy at private school

Anonymous
Hello,

Looking for a good school for my son. He is in 3rd grade currently and we are looking for a school that offers a lot of activities as he has vast interest in sports, chess, music and computers. We would love the school to be private as our local public is not really an option. We are moving from out of the area, but his current school is very small and we are looking for some thing that has at least two classrooms per grade.
Thanks.

Are you looking in DC, Maryland, Virginia?

I was also going to suggest the Heights if it makes sense for your new location. Where are you moving to?

The Heights is amazing....unless you're not Catholic or don't care for Catholic dogma, want your son to have a co-ed experience, believe women should be teachers, too...but yeah, otherwise...go Heights!!!

Yeah because we’re living in a society that really doesn’t have enough women teachers in K-12

Single-sex religious school is a valid choice for lots of people and having male role models is great for the boys at Heights

Can you give us a more specific geographic location? The DMV is huge and there are lots of great school, but not all of them are accessible from everywhere.

I am a big proponent for single sex education, but I do think it is unhealthy for boys to have no exposure to female leadership in their school environment. Just my two cents.

I do wish OP would come back and respond about general location and weigh in on whether Catholic would be acceptable or not. They seem to have asked the question and then never checked on responses, so I’m not sure there’s really any point in offering further ideas.

Yes...totally agree that it is a valid choice for some. OP can do their own research on the Heights and decide if Opus Dei should or should not have a meaningful role in their son's life.
