If you do a verbal commit in 11th grade (or really any time before acceptances are done), I know you can get a pre-read for admissions and an idea of if there is any athletic money. Do they also give an idea of if there will be any merit (and approximate how much)? This is for a sport with little athletic money (swimming). |
Yes. We spoke to the school about merit aid before we committed. They told us what we would get ahead of time as well as the expected amount for financial aid. The coach should be able to refer you to the proper person. |
My D3 student athlete was told that a merit pre-read was possible as well as the academic pre-read. The result was that as long as DC kept their grades up and continued on the rigorous course path that they'd planned on for the rest of 11th and all of 12th grade, they'd qualify for the highest level of merit aid. And indeed upon ED acceptance they were given the school's highest merit award, $25K/year for a SLAC. |
Super helpful, thank you! |
Could people comment on their experience with FA for the same situation? |
If you aren't on Coach Renee's page on FB, I would recommend joining. |
