We tried care.com and found it worked better for us to search for people on the site than for people to respond to our ad. A lot of people responding to our ad had clearly not read it and were just attracted to the pay scale. Out of the 20 total candidates that we found or that contacted us on care, only 1 or 2 were actually decent matches/available/interested. We also placed an ad on a local listserve. We got pretty good candidates from that (we specifically asked for former teachers, OTs, SLPs, etc.) It was definitely the better route for us. We heard from some other parents that they hired former nannies as an aide for their child in preschool. Depends on the skillset needed. I also heard from some preschool teachers that it is common for daycares to post ads on Indeed, so lots of preschool teachers look for jobs there. Never tried it but that might be something to consider, too. Good luck!!
