What’s it like for a man to be in love?

What is it like for men to be in love?

It depends on their childhood experiences with love and being loved. Men are people too.

Funny you should ask because was recently thinking about someone I was dating, late 20s. It felt like:

- we were so in tune on various levels regarding how we felt about the world
- I could look outward to another person instead of living in only my head
- physically turned on, and devoted to satisfying what she wanted/needed

I don't think there's one way that men are "like" when they're in love, but I was once accused of taking my dating philosophy from Percy Sledge's "When a Man Loves a Woman," and she wasn't wrong. That's how it is for me.

IME with all the different men who said they loved me:

He shows up.
He prioritizes you.
He spends money on you if he has it. If he doesn’t he does other things for you to help and serve you.
He forgives you and looks past your faults.
He loves being in bed with you.

He has a song that always reminds him of you.

This is almost bringing me to tears. Forgot what it is like.

Well - let me put it this way.

You have an option for a 9;

you know this girl is slightly over weight, not very glamorous, and other reasons you could look else where. But for some reason, you want to spend all your time with her. You don't care what anyone thinks. And every flaw looks "cute". And every 9 looks like an empty vessel.

For a guy. The brain is aware but the heart takes over. Its a duality.

He feels safe, happy, valued, loved and excited. He tries to make her feel the same.

So, Shallow Hal then? That's a fantasy.

This is actually reassuring. Men CAN fall in love with women who aren’t physically perfect (and young).
