Can you really do anything about crepey neck skin?

It looks like someone else’s neck except it’s mine. Early 50s.

Also in my 50s. I’ve seen some improvements to both my neck and chest by using Olay creams with peptides twice daily. I buy whichever fragrance-free one is on sale when I run out.

I also saw change with the Gold Bond one PP mentioned. But the ingredients aren’t great (parabens), so I stopped. Olay isn’t exactly perfect, but seems a bit better.

I’ve tried various serums and they help a little. I did RF microneedling last year and that helped the most. But it’s pricey and need to keep it up each year. So I may just stick to the serums. There’s a Paula’s choice phytoestrogen one that I like the best.

With creams, and results you see (if any) are temporary. You need to consult with a dermatologist to identify your best options for your skin. What's most effective for me may not be for you.

Laser helps. The more aggressive the better. I had co2 laser on my neck last year (took ages to heal) but it worked. I just had IPL done - far less aggressive but did it more for upkeep. My neck isn’t crepey and I have 51 years.

Tell me more. I had thyroid cancer and so my neck is now crepey bc they had to remove things within it and there is excess skin. It’s so bad - I’m mid 40s and neck looks way older. I will do anything to fix!

It’s worth giving it a try before going the surgery route. It won’t tighten up skin but it does improve texture and crepiness. Start with IPL and see how you find it. There is very little downtime. If you don’t find it too painful and feel it improves things, try a more aggressive laser to get better results. There are so many different ones but CO2 is the most aggressive but there are ones between that and IPL (eg Halo)

What’s the downside of co2?
It may need to be surgery but it’s a weird situation bc I’m def not in the facelift zone but bc of my surgery my neck is a mess. Not sure if there is ‘just’ a neck lift

CO2 recovery is quite long, although obviously not as long as a facelift. I had it done on a Thursday. Stayed home mostly through the weekend and then wore high necked tops the following week.

Neck lifts are a surgery type but I can’t comment on that

Ultherapy. Ultrasound skin tightening. I had it in my late thirties and had a great result. Might work in your 50s depending on your skin laxity.

A friend has lasers done on her neck and chest. It looks amazing.

My sister had a neck lift. It also looks amazing.

I use drugstore cream and occasionally use my tretinoin prescription on my neck. Not “amazing”, but I’m ok with it.

I suppose you could see a Derm and explore your options.

Interesting, my mom’s thyroid surgeon actually tightened her neck when she removed half of the thyroid. She did have a scar that faded over 20 years and now looks like a natural fold in her neck. But she never got those vertical lines as a result (whereas I’m starting to get them at 45).
