Colonoscopy cost diagnostic

I know the amount differs but what is the typical cost to patient after insurance for a diagnostic colonoscopy in the DC. area?

Mine was about $240 for the facility and $40 for the doctor -- after the insurance paid whatever it paid.

I had a fight with them over whether it was a diagnostic colonoscopy or a screening colonoscopy. They won. What really bothered me was that there was no avenue to appeal.

There is not a lot to appeal with screening vs diagnostic. 45 with no symptoms- i.e. no rectal bleeding? Screening. Repeat colonoscopy with no prior polyps? Screening. Almost every other reason is diagnostic.
