Annual casual summer dress post. What are you finding?

Anonymous
I feel like I spend hours and hours searching online each summer for the perfect summer dress.

I'm 49 and I don't really like sleeveless or wide open backs and I look better in clothing that is fitted (the whole shapeless linen thing doesn't work for me although I wish it did).
I also can't really do the gauze, ruffled tiers that are everywhere. I feel like I look ridiculous and 95% of the women I see in these (over the age of 30) don't look great either.
I don't like dresses made of athletic material.
I already own the Anthropologie Sommerset dress (which I like well enough although I'm a little bored by it).

Any thoughts?
I've been scouring the ends of the internet with very little luck.

I wish I had advice or links for you. I'm also 49 and can't find anything you're describing either.

Check out Quince - they have some nice (and modest) linen dresses.

Oh that’s pretty!

I have had luck at Nordstrom Rack and Jcrew Factory. A few things I've ordered:

I burn really easily and am always looking for summery dresses that cover my back and legs (and sometimes even my arms, though putting sunscreen on my arms is not that burdensome) so these options run that way, but both places have other options that are more strappy or shorter if those are your preferences.

That J Crew dress is pretty. I'm concerned those arms are so big you'd see fully down them if you lifted your arm a little.

I've seen this Target dress on a few insta posts, enough that I am intrigued:

It's long sleeve but I've mostly seen people style it with the sleeves pushed up.

Oh I really like the floral one.

All cotton with pockets for $35? Thinking of ordering as a beach/pool-side cover up, as shown in one of the customer pics.

Thanks for the recommendation!

I'm giving that one a try, too.

Is there any chance you can shift your psychology in favor of shapeless linen because it is a great lifestyle.

That looks like a bedsheet. Especially the green stripe one.

This is probably a dumb question but all these athletic dresses I am seeing…are these meant to be worn only in an athletic context or is it like wearing joggers to do errands? Some of them are super cute but I don’t know if the fabric would look odd in a date night or at a party etc. Hard to tell when looking online, especially.

What about your dresses from last summer?

You don’t get a couple of new dresses every year?
