Too late for Covid test?

Anonymous
The results obviously don’t matter, but I am genuinely curious. I started feeling sick on Monday and it’s progressively gotten worse each day. Too late for results?

Not at all, why would you think it's too late?

I wasn’t sure for how long one would test positive after symptoms appear.

it usually takes 4-6 days to test positive so why would it be too late?

I guess it wouldn’t. I didn’t know, but that’s for clarification. That’s why I asked.

Didn't you get vaccinated? Why would you think that it's Covid?

It’s presenting like the other two times I had Covid. I was vax’d in ‘21 but I’ve never gotten a booster. Shots made me sicker than this!

Take the test. I woke up on Monday with a certain kind of headache that I only ever had before with the Covid vaccine and my one earlier bout of Covid. I had been fine in Saturday, had a little tickle in my throat on Sunday, and fever/headache Monday night. The test lit right up positive. It’s Thursday, and I’m feeling pretty good today.

To repeat it again for the folks in the back, the vaccine doesn’t mean you won’t get Covid, but it means that if you do get it, you won’t wind up in a hospital or dead.

I have no idea where I got it from, but I know that people aren’t testing and staying home like they used to.

Current covid variants are milder than earlier ones. Without risk factors, there's almost no chance of ending up in the hospital or dead, vaxxed or unvaxxed.

Are covid vaccines still a thing? Genuinely curious if others are still vaccinating.

Very few. State data is the only accurate measure at this point. In the DMV, Virginia posts the best data. https://www.vdh.virginia.gov/epidemiology/respiratory-diseases-in-virginia/data/vaccines/ For ages 0-49, less than 10% have taken the latest booster. Only a third of 65+ have taken the latest booster. And even so, new weekly covid hospitalizations are at their lowest level since covid emerged.

Virginia, % who got the 2023-24 booster:
Ages 0-30 just over 6%
Ages 21-49 10%
Ages 50-64 17%
Ages 65+ 35%

PP Again. Sorry, should say:
Ages 31-49 10%

Yes, OP, you're about 4 years too late. Covid isn't really a thing anymore.

Then why are still people dying from it still?

Ugh so gross. Things don't just stop existing because you want to ignore them.
