Two weeks ago DD started minocycline. It got a little better right away, but now it’s like it’s getting worse. I was hoping she would have had just a little improvement by now. Is it still too early to tell? And if so, at what point in time should I assume we need to try something else? |
At least 6 weeks, but realistically up to 6 months. |
Gets worse temporarily. It took a month before my son saw improvement and in 3 months was clear with oral minocycline. Use a topical antibiotic like duac too- and retin-a so when she stops antibiotic the topicals keep it from coming back |
I would give it 3 months. |
Not sure why you would use anything other than ProActiv. The original 3 step program. |
Did the doctor prescribe topical medications for acne too? My DD was told by her dermatologist that it takes up to 8 weeks to notice an improvement and often acne could get worse before getting better. |
because that doesn't work on hormonal acne. My DS found that out the hard way. Now on Sarecycline. Derm said 3 months. It's been almost 2 months, and it's gotten a bit better. |
I’m pretty sure you posted somewhere else. My advice still stands, go to Reddit/skincareaddiction and search old posts. This has likely been asked with a ton of advice. |
I checked for you. People are saying 6-12 weeks. Two weeks is nothing for anything oral or topical. You need to give these medications time unfortunately. |
Thank you. I haven’t posted about it here but I’ll definitely check out Reddit, thanks! |
Have you asked your dermatologist about Benzoyl peroxide and BHA? |
