Just had an interview with a panel - I wasn't provided with their email addresses, but we are all connected now on LinkedIn.
Is this how people send thank yous nowadays, or should I search for their emails? Is most outreach done on Linkedin? Yes, I am Encino Man. |
I always felt single sending thank you notes. I really did appreciate them taking the time, don’t get me wrong, but the formal thank you note felt so self serving. I said thank you, sincerely, when I was talking to them. This follow up is just some performance that is expected that I do to help me get hired — ugh.
LinkedIn is better if they don’t provide emails. Don’t cyberstalinthem. |
Cyber stalk |
Linkedin is fine!

A lot of people don’t check their LinkedIn regularly. I would send a note to the hiring manager asking them to forward. |
Don't do that. That's annoying to the Hiring Manager |
Exactly. The thank you notes should be the least obtrusive way possible. Don’t make work for your POC or the hiring manager to forward your email, don’t cyber stalk them and fill their work inbox with self serving thank you (unless they explicitly gave you their email address). LinkedIn was designed as a honey pot for self serving communications, so it’s the best channel. It’s a public forum they have made themselves available on, so it doesn’t feel intrusive. |
