Neighbor bought a plastic kiddie pool in March and never drained it or moved it. It has black water in it now and it’s creating a mosquito issue. Considering how they are okay with living with a mosquito pond I don’t think talking to them is going to be enough to get them to empty and trash it. Who do I call? |
Code enforcement for your county/city. |
I had a similar situation and would talk to them. They just need to know that they have to flip over the pool when they are not using it. I'm sure they don't want mosquitoes either. They are just clueless. |
My next door neighbor (with whom I have a good relationship) did the same thing with a bucket full of weeds (and rainwater, eventually). I just shook mosquito bits into it regularly. Created my own Bucket of Doom! |
Toss a mosquito dunk in the water now before the mosquitoes really start breeding. |
My husband is an avid gardener but forgets to drain all his buckets and things. Also, we bought ribbed downspouts for water drainage before realizing that mosquitoes could lay eggs into the tiny amounts of water in the ribs.
I'm on his case to empty all his containers, and to replace the spouts. To no avail. He's the one in the yard during the summer, tending his garden, and the mosquitoes don't seem to bother him. When he's not there, I drop mosquito dunks everywhere except his veggy plot. But we still get a ton of mosquitoes! |
