My 12 year old woke up with what looked like a nickel sized blister at the end of his nose. It wasn’t very raised but definitely had that skin-over-fluid look. He said last night he felt a bump like a pimple. (He has not had enough puberty to really have any acne yet). Then the blister popped at school and now it is pretty red. It’s like raw skin that has dried out.
I have never seen anything like this before. Any thoughts on what is going on here? Should I take him to pediatrician or dermatologist or urgent care tomorrow? |

It might be nasal vestibulitis so I’d take him to the pediatrician |
Could be a bacterial infection. |
+1 staph or something else icky. Nose is close to the brain, even for a skin infection. I’d take him to the ped. |
Impetigo? |
Go to MD before school to rule out contagious rash |
Yeah, doctor or derm for a swab. My child had similar but in leg and they thought it was staph, turned out to be strep. |
Impetigo? Steph infection? MRSA? Yes, take him to doc. |
Staph ^
Not likely to be any of those but just in case… |
Was it sunburned? |
