How do you read books?

Anonymous
I only like reading on my Kindle so I can open my book on my phone. But reading books is expensive! The one I want is $15 to buy on Kindle (paperback is $10!). The library has e-books but they take forever to become available. How do you get your books?

Kindle books via Libby. I just always have the max number on hold and am never without books.

Kindle. I buy cheap ones myself and put the expensive ones on my birthday wishlist.

My phone for convenience and needed distraction but I prefer an actual book when traveling or relaxing. If I have a lot of physical work or long driving, I prefer long audiobooks.

You can get them from the library. Or subscribe to Kindle Unlimited (though not all books are on there).

I read ebooks on my tablet; DH reads them from a kindle.

I take out books from the library like it's 1972 and carry them home in my tote bag.

I do a combo:

1)audio from Libby (favorite way to listen! I consume more books, will "read" more non-fiction and it keeps me entertained while I do chores)
2) Kindle (some free, some Libby, some I buy) actual book in hand
3) Actual book in hand, usually 2nd hand from a LFL or a friend and sometimes the library.

You can read Libby books on the Kindle app too. I put things I'm interested on hold. I try to read a year or 2 behind whatever is "hot" at the moment so I don't have to wait so long.

I have several library cards that I can use through Libby. Happy to wait for new books. I have plenty to read while I wait.

I don't buy books unless I know the author already and am certain it's going to be a favorite.

I buy them on Kindle and it's definitely the most expensive way. I don't have the patience to wait for it to become available on Libby.

I almost always read books on Kindle. Most of these were either free or borrowed through Kindle Unlimited.

If I want to read a book that I’d have to pay for, I’ll check it out through the library if possible (usually hard copy).

I also sometimes browse secondhand book stores, neighborhood little libraries, etc.

Libby for free from my pub library. Send to kindle.

This.

Libby from the library.
You just have to be patient as you will have to wait. I put several on hold so that something is always coming soon. Saves lots of money, especially when you don't like the book!
