First world United question

We’re flying United from IAD to Rome soon. Does anyone know if regular economy seats have TVs on the seatbacks? Inquiring minds are curious.

Open your reservation and find the plane type you’re on and then Google. You should be able to find out that way, but they can always change the plane type last minute.

Prepare as if they do not. In my experience they have. But those things break, planes change etc

On our recent international United flight (Boeing 777), seats had screens. If there are no screens, you can download and use the United app on your phone for entertainment.

Yes, all the long haul United 767/777/787s have screens in economy. However, as stated above, be prepared that yours may have some technical issues. Their system has a very nice array of movies and shows to watch, either in the seat back screens or the streaming to your tablet/phone option.

We were in bulk head seats last United trip and had to sue our iPads. Not a big deal but be aware.

Are you saying you were on a 777 which had seat back screens in economy, but not in your bulkhead seats? That's not the case- the ones in the bulkhead have screens on an arm so they can go to the side of the seat, but then the arm comes up and you put the screen in front of you. It's possible you didn't see that? Or are you saying that screen was there, but it didn't work?

There is a very small remaining number of old United 777s which don't have seatback screens in economy, but those are almost solely used for domestic US trips like Dulles-SFO and to Hawaii. They generally don't fly on international routes anymore.

There you go. That small 777 subtype does not serve any flights to Europe/South America/Asia. Only to Hawaii and some transcon routes. So not relevant to OP's situation (excepting a failure in the screen).
