My DD (class of 2027) was just admitted to UVA as a transfer. She wants to major in business so that means she will need to apply next year for McIntyre, right? How competitive is it? I'd hate for her to choose UVA and then not get in. What would her options be? Major in something else and minor in business? Major in Econ? Anything I'm missing?
UVA is a great school and we are thrilled for her, but nervous about her taking the risk of not getting in to the business major. Thoughts? |
The process just changed for class of 2028, so I'm not sure when/how applications for transfers will be reviewed. She should reach out to the school and ask. Congratulations to your DD and good luck! |
My understanding is that because she is coming in as a sophomore, she will apply this fall for her junior year, but will double check. |
There are a couple recent threads here about how unpredictable it’s been under the current admissions process to get into McIntire, aka the comm school or commerce school, even for highly qualified applicants. It might be helpful for you to search here for those but keep in mind the application cycle is now changing and no one yet knows how that will work out. |
Call McIntire and ask |
Where is she transferring from? If she's not able to get into McIntyre would she be better off staying where she is now? |
No. She is transferring from a school that is not highly ranked and she doesn’t like it. She does have other choices (one is a good private university and two others that are respectable but not as highly regarded). UVA is highest ranked so far, but waiting to hear from a few. |

Thanks so much! That is exactly what I was looking for but did not find. |
