experience with multifocal contact lenses?

If you have multifocal contact lenses, how well do they work for you? Are they great or do you have any issues with them? Would they make playing a sport like tennis difficult?

I tried them but couldn’t adjust even for everyday life. I usually stick to glasses or regular contacts with readers or lower Rx.

I tried different multifocal contacts and had mediocre success. In order to not wear reading glasses, one eye had to be under-prescribed, which ended up affecting my long distance vision for driving. I didn't have to wear readers as much, but I still had to to see my phone and such.

I ended up having really bad dry eye and now mostly wear my glasses...I figure if I'm going to wear glasses much of the time they might as well be my comfortable pair. I do have some contacts I wear for special occasions or to go to the beach or pool. They'd probably be fine for tennis.

It’s funny that you asked that because I recently noticed that it definitely affects my distance vision and almost feel like my depth perception is off so makes it harder for me to hit volleys.

They are terrific. There was an initial adjustment period but after that, they have saved me from bifocals. I don’t need reading glasses for another year! I love them.

I had no problem adjusting to the multifocal part of the lens, but they irritated my eyes to the point that I could no longer wear them. I had not had that problem with regular contacts in the past.

Unfortunately, I could not adjust to them. I much prefer contacts, but I wear bifocals most of the time now. I do still have a single vision contacts that I wear occasionally when I want to look a little better.

I found they worked great for 3-4 months, then I needed readers again as my eyes adjusted

I'm extremely myopic and like a previous poster, found that the multifocal worked OK for close reading and in small indoor spaces but couldn't comfortable drive in them. I was very disappointed.

I’m 45 and my eyes got worse and tried two types of multifocal lenses and could not get used to them. Something always felt off. I went back to my old prescription. My optometrist suggested I get reading glasses to wear with my contacts. I just wear my regular contacts and glasses at night before bed. My sight is probably 90% of what it was but it is good enough with my contacts.

They don't make them in my prescription in the only lenses that work for my eyes
