Bank of America lying to drum up business

Anonymous
For months I’ve been getting a call saying something to the effect of “hi this is X the branch manager at BOA. I missed your call yesterday and I’m returning it.” They always call at 8 am. I figured it’s a scam call. Today I decided to pick up and lo and behold it really is the local BOA branch calling and lying to get you to call them back to see if you want to open a savings account. Where do I complain about this practice?

Block the number.

Do you already have an account with BoA, or is this a cold call to try to get you to work with them?

I have a couple of checking accounts, and this is a common practice to call existing account-holders to get them to "expand their relationship". There is a marketing communication setting in your online profile you can change to alert them that you don't want them to do this.

Is it really them or spoofing? Things you can do include going to the branch and talking to the manager, tweeting about it to boa, contacting the media, making an ftc report, or reporting it to your state banking regulator. But it's probably either a scam or one dumb person working at the bank who thinks this is a good way to get business. It's reasonable to block and move on.

It’s really them. I thought it was a scam. I have multiple voice mails over a few weeks basically saying the local bank branch manager missed my call but it’s a complete lie to get me to call them. With so many bank scams lying to people that you missed there call is so dumb.
