Burning bush

Anonymous
We have a lot and I removed it myself this weekend with vine clippers ( yes I know it’s not a vine but they worked). Two questions:
1) how do I treat the stump/remove the roots so it does not grow back
2) I have to bag it up and it is almost flowering, if it’s currently sitting on my lawn will it seed?

WTF why would I want links to buy more of an invasive plant I said I just removed?

We had a huge burning bush and just removed it last weekend. We dug out the stump and boy was that a pain in the a$$. I’m wondering if you can just drill holes in the stump and put some roundup in there. That’s worked for me with some other invasives.

I think you’re supposed to bag it up and solarize it for a few weeks so the seeds won’t remain viable. Don’t put it in with regular yard waste - make sure it’s super dead before you dispose of it.

When you treat the stump, you have to do it as soon as you cut it. Have a small paint brush handy and paint on the RoundUp as soon as make each cut. You will have to go back and re-cut the plant so you can paint the stumps. You can also drill into the stump and add roundup there, but that tends to work better for trees than multi branched shrubs. Heat helps, so this week is perfect for the job.

It will not go to seed if it's "almost flowering".

OP. I have seven leaf bags full of this stuff that I’m planning to put on the curb for pickup Wednesday. I think the town burns it.
