Royal Carribean vs. Carnival Cruises

Which one is better for a family with adolescents?

You can get a good feel by watching some YouTube reviews of some of the ships.

It is really ship to ship different... RC on an Oasis class ship is completely different experience from one of their smaller ones.

I've heard good stuff about both, but from our experience, if going on Royal, and sticking to one of their bigger boats (Oasis class, Icon, or even Quantum class), will have tons to do for the kids.

I think the newer larger Carnival ones should also have good stuff, but I haven't been.

Carnival is known for a rowdy crowd.

Having said that, their newest/biggest ships are more expensive so folks tend to behave better.

Royal Caribbean tends to cost a little more, so the crowd is less trashy.

I follow tons of CruiseTubers (YouTube) and I cruise a lot. There’s a reason why Carnival is the only cruise line that brings drug sniffing dogs on board their ships.

Don't know about Royal Caribbean but Carnival is for those who want to drink rum to oblivion every night until they pass out and the start again the next day. Hard pass

Only have been on one cruise and it was in Carnival. It wasn’t a five-star luxury experience, but it was perfectly fine for our family. I had heard the “party cruise” talk, but didn’t find this to be true- at least on our cruise. For families, I think Carnival is fine. There were plenty of activities and the boat was huge, so if you don’t like crowds, there are quiet spots on the ship.

Both are fine. We’ve done many 7 and 7+ nights on both ships. I’ve never found the rowdy crowd on the carnival ships. But maybe it’s because they’ve been longer cruises.

I am a travel planner and we won't sell Carnival.

They are both a bad idea for a vacation with anyone. They are for lazy fat boring people. Think large family reunions with matching t shirts. I would rethink the cruise idea.

Royal. I went on Carnival once - total for 15 cruises overall, most with kids and grandparents. I will never go on Carnival again.

It’s ok if cruises aren’t your thing. What’s never ok is being mean.

Disney. Nothing else is close.

Will teens like a disney cruise?

Very much depends on the ship. Some PP said RC is "less trashy." I went on a RC cruise and can't imagine that is possible.

I'd try Disney if I were you -- worth the extra money.
