Hot tub—electrical wiring?

We are considering getting a hot tub in our back yard, on patio. Will require the 230v, so I’m wondering what’s reasonable quote for this type of electrical work? Does the wiring need to go in ground? And any tips for me as a hot tub newbie? I’m considering the Costco ones, not going to put it in ground or anything.

The electrical for our hot tub was $1300 (late fall 2022). The much more expensive item was the landscaping work to support the tub. We put in a reinforced concrete pad & dug a 4" trench for the electrical to run between the tub and the breaker box.

Thanks! Guessing if I just put it on a flagstone patio I don’t need the reinforced concrete pad or other landscaping work, apart from the electrical trench (?). Anyone else just do it without the trench?

You are probably guessing wrong. Hot tubs are heavy. Flagstone patios are not built to support them.
