I was hired into a government role which was a big promotion. Shortly after my start, my boss asked me to take on a secondary role leading a program until we hired someone in 6 months.
Several years later, this trend has continued where I have to play hot potato juggling new priorities/programs that are outside the scope and lower level than the position I was hired into. Usually the reason this happens is because we’re severely understaffed, underfunded, and have turnover of a of a few employees every year.
How do I handle this other than finding a new job?
